Yulara is a resort town, Ayers Rock Resort, located twenty kilometres from Uluru and forty-eight kilometres from Kata Tjuta. It is 450 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs, close to the South Australian border. The town has a population of 1,000 residents, most of whom are either workers in the resort or tour operators. During peak season, Yulara may host up to 4,000 visiting tourists.
The town’s infrastructure is owned by Journey Beyond and operates the resort under its subsidiary company, Voyages Tourism Australia. Yulara is served by one major road, the Lasseter Highway, which links it to surrounding roads and landmarks. Yulara’s Connellan Airport makes it possible to reach the resort directly by air from many major cities.
